NORTHVILLE, Mich. — Early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election opened Saturday, and Northville residents have two different places to go depending on which side of the city line they live on.

Township residents vote early at their own Township Hall on Six Mile Road, at No. 44405. Doors there open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. each day through Sunday, Nov. 1.

Residents of the city of Northville share a site with Novi voters at the Novi Civic Center, 45175 W. 10 Mile Road. Hours there run 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day, with one exception: on Thursday, Oct. 29, the hours shift to noon to 8 p.m.

Voters at either site feed their marked ballots straight into a tabulator, but the counts stay sealed until voting ends at 8 p.m. on Nov. 3. Anyone holding an absentee ballot can return it to their own clerk, and it must arrive by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, so a ballot still in the mail at that hour does not count.

Michigan voters approved the early voting option in 2022, and the nine-day window always starts on the second Saturday before a statewide or federal election and ends the Sunday before it. The deadline to register online or by mail passed Oct. 19, so unregistered residents now have to register in person at their local clerk office with proof of residency, which can still be done on Election Day.
