ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ann Arbor Public Schools will seat a largely new Board of Education in January after unofficial returns from the Nov. 3 election put one incumbent and four newcomers into office.

Becca Hogan led the four-year field, followed by incumbent Rima Mohammad, Brandon Smith and Aaron Puno. Washtenaw County tallies with all precincts counted put Hogan at about 18.47 percent, Mohammad at 17.58 percent, Smith at 16.59 percent and Puno at 12.83 percent.

In a separate race to finish the remainder of a vacant term, John Benson defeated former trustee Don Wilkerson. Steven Norton has been serving on an interim basis in that seat.

The district board posted the same unofficial slate — Hogan, Mohammad, Puno and Smith for four-year terms and Benson for the two-year seat — while noting the Board of Canvassers report is still pending.

The four-year winners ran together as the Together Forward coalition. New trustees are due to take office in January once certification is complete.
