FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots will again be without wide receiver A.J. Brown when they host the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, but the team is hopeful the 29-year-old can rejoin the lineup once the Week 11 bye is behind them.
New England listed Brown as out on Friday with ankle and knee injuries. It will be his second straight missed game after his knee flared up in practice before the Week 8 win over Miami. Coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Friday that Brown is working very hard to get back, without offering a date.
Reports Saturday indicated the club is optimistic about a return soon after the bye, which would line him up for a Nov. 29 trip to face the Los Angeles Chargers. Before then, the Patriots play the Detroit Lions in Germany on Nov. 15.
Brown, a three-time Pro Bowl pick acquired from Philadelphia in a June trade, has played in only three of eight games. He sprained an ankle in the opener against Seattle and spent four games on injured reserve. He came back Oct. 18 against the New York Jets, then played four days later at Chicago, where he caught three passes for 48 yards before the knee trouble resurfaced.
He has nine receptions for 101 yards and no touchdowns this season. Running back TreVeyon Henderson is also out Sunday with an illness, and tight end Hunter Henry is questionable with a foot injury.
