NORTHVILLE, Mich. — If you have noticed skeletons lounging, posing and peeking out around downtown Northville, they are not going anywhere until Halloween.
This is the 15th year of Skeletons Are Alive, the Northville Downtown Development Authority’s monthlong October takeover. The displays went up for Oct. 1 and stay through Oct. 31.
The season opened with a launch party on Friday, Oct. 2, which ran from 5 to 10 p.m. downtown, and AmericaJR posted a photo gallery from the streets this week.
For families, the easiest way to join in now is the scavenger hunt. The DDA has a skeleton map online that you can download and carry while you count how many you spot. Local sponsors pay for individual skeletons, and the DDA lists them on its website.
The skeletons share the month with other downtown events on the DDA’s October in the ‘Ville schedule, including Streets of Treats on Oct. 24 and trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The DDA office is at 215 W. Main St. and can be reached at (248) 349-0345.
