NORTHVILLE, Mich. — Families can get an early start on Halloween in downtown Northville next Saturday, Oct. 24, when Streets of Treats returns to Main and Center streets.
The Northville Chamber of Commerce event runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids can trick-or-treat from booth to booth, and the chamber promises games, live entertainment and mini doughnuts with cider.
Businesses and groups are still signing up to run treat stations. Shops on Main between Hutton and Wing streets, or on Center between Dunlap and Mary Alexander, pay $25 for a spot right outside their own door. Others get a 10-by-10-foot space on Main or Center for $50 if they belong to the chamber or $100 if they do not.
Station hosts bring their own tents, tables, chairs, decorations and candy or giveaways, and the chamber encourages kid-friendly activities. Hosts last year said they handed out anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 pieces of candy, so plan on crowds.
Streets of Treats is part of the downtown’s October in the ‘Ville calendar. Citywide trick-or-treating follows on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
