Northville Township is mourning the sudden passing of Trustee Scott Frush, who died on January 11, 2025, at the age of 53. Frush, a financial expert and community leader, was widely recognized for his contributions to the township and its residents.

Frush was well-regarded by his colleagues, with Township Supervisor Mark Abbo describing him as a “good guy” and a reliable friend who was always willing to help others. His unexpected death has left a significant void in local governance and the community.

A financial planner by profession, Frush was appointed as a trustee in 2019 and won election to the position in 2020. He was re-elected in the recent fall election and had been serving as deputy treasurer since 2021. His expertise in finance played a vital role in Northville Township achieving a AAA bond rating, which is a significant indicator of financial strength.

During his tenure, Frush was instrumental in reducing water rates and generating millions in interest earnings for the township. In addition to his work in local governance, he authored financial books published by McGraw-Hill, further showcasing his expertise in the field.

Frush was not only dedicated to his professional responsibilities but also actively engaged in the community. He resided in Northville Township for the last 13 years with his wife, Christina, who he married 19 years ago, and their two children, Ryan and Gabriella. Previously, he held positions as treasurer for both the Northville Educational Foundation and Friends of the Northville District Library.

Beyond his municipal work, Frush was committed to enhancing the livability of Northville. He prioritized excellent financial management practices and took initiatives to protect parks and green spaces while connecting pathways and supporting local youth sports. Recently, he was appointed to the Washtenaw County materials management planning committee to provide advice on landfill activities, highlighting his ongoing commitment to community engagement.

Frush was also an accomplished scholar, actively pursuing a doctorate in business administration from the University of Florida, in addition to holding a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
