NORTHVILLE, Mich. — The Wayne County side of Northville will have a new voice in Lansing. Democrat Lisa McIntyre captured the open state House District 22 seat on Tuesday, defeating Republican Casey Noce by a little more than 6,000 votes.
With 29 of 29 precincts counted, McIntyre finished with 30,059 votes, or 56 percent, while Noce drew 23,846, or 44 percent. Both candidates had won their party primaries in August to reach the November ballot.
Neither finalist was the incumbent. Democrat Matt Koleszar is the current District 22 representative. The district takes in the Wayne County part of the city, while the Oakland County part sits in House District 21.
Voters there also returned Democrat Kelly Breen, the incumbent in District 21, who won 61 percent of the vote with 26,354 ballots to 16,825 for Republican Ross Barranco.
State House members in Michigan serve two-year terms. McIntyre’s term begins at midday on Jan. 1, when the new Legislature is seated.
