Shooting Incident at Specialty Steel Treating in Farmington Hills
Farmington Hills witnessed a serious shooting incident on Tuesday morning at a local business, Specialty Steel Treating Inc., located on Eight Mile Rd.. The police received a call around 8 a.m. from a person who claimed they had shot someone in the parking lot.
Upon arriving at the scene around 8:05 a.m., officers discovered that there had been ongoing gunfire at the facility. They began interviewing several individuals who were present during the incident. One person confessed to being involved in the shooting, while another was swiftly identified after arriving at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
According to Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King, the injured individual is currently receiving medical care and is reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Investigators later determined that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing workplace dispute between two employees at the business. First responders maintained a presence at the scene for several hours to ensure everyone’s safety and gather evidence. The police chief reassured the community, stating, “At this time there is no danger to the public.” All involved parties have been identified, and any weapons linked to the incident have been secured by authorities.
This event is part of a concerning pattern of gun-related incidents in the Oakland County area. Recently, another Farmington Hills man faced charges for holding police at bay while firing a rifle, and an individual was arraigned for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
As investigations continue, the community remains on alert, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing issues.
