Tyrone Fergerson, aged 53, matched all five white balls in the drawing held on September 24, 2024, originally winning a $1 million prize. Fergerson, who plays Mega Millions every week using a set of numbers derived from significant dates in his life, couldn’t believe his luck. “I woke up in the middle of the night, decided to check my ticket, said a little prayer, and when I saw the winning numbers, I was just at a loss for words!” he shared. “I thought I had won $1 million, but then I realized I won $5 million! Mega Millions drawings happen every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets are available for only $2, and players can add the Megaplier feature for an additional $1 to increase their non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.
For those looking to try their luck, Mega Millions tickets are sold across 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are available until 10:45 p.m. on the day of the drawing, either online or at local retailers.
