Barron was born on August 4, 1960, in Monroe, Michigan, as the eldest son of Frank W. and Nancy A. (Jennings) Barron. He attended St. Mary Parish School and later graduated in 1978 from Monroe Catholic Central High School, where he was recognized as a varsity letter winner in wrestling.

He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Additionally, he held a second Bachelor of Science degree in Institutional Healthcare Administration from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, and completed a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Services Administration from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

On May 6, 1999, Michael married Sharon Kaye Starcher in Mansfield, Ohio. The couple called Mansfield home until 2017, when they made the decision to relocate to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where they continued to build their life together.

Michael was well-known for his deep love for his family and his attentive listening skills. He approached life with a quiet purpose, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him. His fondness for Monroe’s Originals hotdogs and cherished memories of Christmases filled with his mother’s cookies and special holiday pie were a testament to his appreciation for family traditions.

Sailing stood out as one of Michael’s greatest passions. He enjoyed waterskiing and participated in crewing aboard the racing yacht Jump on the Great Lakes. He was not only a fierce competitor but also a gentle soul who treated people with exceptional care and attention.

Michael’s enduring familial legacy was rooted in values instilled by his father and a profound appreciation of his mother’s sacrifices. His close relationship with his grandmother, Leona, had a significant influence on his life. A lover of simple traditions, he treasured activities like hunting at the family farm and storytelling. Additionally, he encouraged others to find their voice and express themselves.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharon, his parents Frank and Nancy, and his siblings: Lisa A. (Jon) of Northville, Michigan; Christopher J. (Jamie) of Castro Valley, California; Timothy J. (Alanna) of Grand Haven, Michigan; and James W. of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Donna (Herb) Megger of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and numerous nephews and nieces, including Aaron Megger of Mount Pleasant, Brandon Starcher (Emily) of Buffalo, New York; Hannah L. (Michael) McNeese of Farmington, Michigan; Gabrielle J. (Ashley) Miihlbach of Dublin, Ohio; Emily J. (Ryan) Schumer of Chicago, Illinois; Sophia A. Barron of Chicago, and several grandnephews and a grandniece.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, several uncles and cousins, and his nephew Matthew H. Megger. His family emphasized that he will be remembered for making others feel important and loved in every interaction.

In appreciation for the support received during Michael’s illness, the family has opted for cremation, which has been entrusted to Carolina Funeral Home and Carolina Memorial Gardens.
